Today we are trying the 2009 Columbia Crest Horse Heaven Hills (H3) Cabernet Sauvignon. This follows our Merlot tasting last week, we want to get customer opinions on the Cab because we are considering bringing it in the store. The nose reveals sweat red fruits of plum, cherry, and spice. On the palate, it has some juicy flavors of plum, cherry and licorice. It has a very long finish for a wine that retails for $14.99.
Today we are trying the 2008 Columbia Crest Horse Heaven Hills (H3) Merlot. This has a lot of sweet fruit on the nose, with touches of plum and cinamon. This has velvety tannins to go with flavors of plus, cherry, boyseberry and a touch of chocolate. The 2007 was on Wine Spectator’s Top 100 wines last year and this is consistently good from year to year.
