Today we are trying the 2003 Renwood Old Vine Zinfandel. We don’t get the opportunity to try aged Zin very often so this was very interesting. Notes of cedar, licorice and boysenberry on the nose. This has a very soft palate with a lot of upfront fruit with licorice, plum sauce but goes into some aged notes of menthol and dried cherry. A pleasant change to the just release Zins with the really jammy fruit.
