3 Great Summer Wines!

July is the height of the Summer. Typically too hot for Cabernet Sauvignon at this point but even if you do you’ll be sweating bullets. This calls for some chilled Summer wine. Oxford Liquor Shoppe has 3 recommendations that are delicious and won’t break the bank. It all depends on what your having!

2016 Mason Sauvignon Blanc

2016 Mason Sauvignon Blanc Napa Valley $16.99

We still have some of this and it is still drinking great! It was featured on the Wine Spectator Top 100 wines of 2017 and we loaded up. This goes great with lighter seafood dishes in the Summer and is perfect on it’s own!

Wine Spectator 90 Points

“Clean, smooth and crisp, offering a lip-smacking mix of pear, melon and Key lime flavors, with plenty of intensity on the finish. Drink now.”

2016 Beringer Chardonnay Napa Valley $19.99

The little brother to the more expensive Private Reserve, this delivers great quality in this vintage, practically matching it’s older sibling. This is a full throttle California Chardonnay that will pair well with your heavier seafood dishes like lobster and salmon.

Wine Spectator 91 Points

“A juicy, full-bore style, with concentrated apple, mango and ripe pear flavors that are intensely spiced. The buttery finish is mouthfilling and quite rich-tasting. Drink now through 2022.”

Bodegas Breca Vina de Espana Rose

2018 Bodegas Breca Vina de Espana Rose $9.99

Rose is great because it pairs well with a lot of different things but best of all it’s a great substitute for what you would pair red wines with in the warm weather making it a great Summer wine. Burgers on the grill? Check! Grilled port chops? Check! London Broil? Check! It delivers great quality for $10.

Wine Spectator 90 Points

“This deceptively pale-colored rosé is quite rich, aromatic and dense. Berry, watermelon, spice and vanilla flavors mingle in a plush texture, with just enough acidity to stay focused. Drink now.”
